Mr. Thompson serves as Senior Vice President-Risk Management & Patient Safety & Associate In-House Counsel. He has a diversified background in law, medicine, and healthcare risk management. He is a Radiology Technologist and practiced nearly 10 years at several Georgia hospitals. Mr. Thompson is a U.S. Army combat veteran where he graduated first in his class from both the U.S. Army Radiologist Technologist School and Avionics School. Mr. Thompson earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration Summa Cum Laude from North Georgia College and State University, his Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law, and his Master of Business Administration from Lincoln University. Most recently, he completed a LL.M.-Master of Laws in Dispute Resolution from the University of Missouri School of Law.

Robert S. Thompson,

RT, JD, MBA, CPHRM

Ms. Hamilton serves as Senior Risk Management Consultant. Her many duties include loss control consultations for Missouri hospitals and educational programs for hospital personnel. Her professional background includes experience in nursing administration in state and private hospitals. Ms. Hamilton earned her BSN and MSN degrees from the University of Missouri. She was recognized by the Insurance Institute of America as an Associate in Risk Management in 1992 and acquired her certification in Healthcare Risk Management from ASHRM in 2000. She is a contributing editor for the HSG Hospital and Physician Risk Management letters.

Mary Sue Hamilton,

MSN, RN, ARM, CPHRM

Ms. Schaffner serves as Risk Management Consultant. Her background includes 20 years experience in clinical nursing, with 10 years as a Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist. She also has 10 years experience as a Patient Safety and Risk Manager for a large, multi hospital healthcare organization. Ms. Schaffner graduated from the University of Missouri with a BSN degree and received her MSN degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She earned her Master of Arts in Bioethics from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is a member of the Missouri Center for Patient Safety's Hospital Advisory Committee. She is a contributing editor for the HSG Hospital and Physician Risk Management letters.

Janet L. Schaffner,

MSN, MA, RN, CPHRM

Ms. McCloud serves as Risk Management Consultant. She has a clinical background of 13 years in nursing, with ten years in a Coronary Intensive Care Unit. Before joining HSG, she served for two years as the Director of Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, Case Management, Patient Satisfaction/Customer Service and Quality Improvement in a Missouri community hospital. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Missouri Southern State University and a BS degree in Business Management from William Woods University. She is a contributing editor for the HSG Hospital and Physician Risk Management letters.

Jodie M. McCloud,

RN, BS, CPHRM

Ms. Schlup serves as Client Services Coordinator for Healthcare Services Group. A long time employee with over 24 years of service, her many duties and responsibilities include administrative support for the HSG Risk Management and Patient Safety staff, coordination of risk management regional educational programs, the Media Library, and administrative responsibility for the Hospital and Physician Risk Management Letters.

Kim Schlup

Client Services Coordinator

In 2010, Ms. Wilbers joined the HSG staff as Risk Management Assistant. Her background included 14 years experience in the medical office setting, holding positions of Medical Records Clerk, Receptionist, Collections/Charge Entry, and Patient Account Representative/Claims Specialist. Among Joni's administrative duties at HSG she is responsible for the HSG Media Library and MLA physician manual, Concepts.
